As the saying goes, anyone who has ever owned a dachshund knows that you can't stop with just one, so having owned our first dachshund, Max, for the past two years, we decided that it was now time to add to our family.
We started our search online and soon discovered Babette's very impressive website. Shortly thereafter we began corresponding with Babette who responded to our many questions promptly, thoroughly, and knowledgeably. Not long after our correspondence began, our puppy, Murphy, came into our lives.
When Murphy was two weeks old, we requested a home visit. Babette very graciously invited us to come to their home the next day where we were introduced not only to Murphy's parents, but to their 20+ other dachshunds(plus a golden retriever), all beautiful dogs, I might add. It was very apparent that Babette maintains an immaculate home with optimum breeding conditions. As you can tell, we were very impressed with everything we saw that day.
Murphy has now been home with us for a month, but it seems like he's been here forever. Max and he are quickly becoming the best of friends spending a large part of their days playing games of "chase" and "chew" while we video and take photos of their antics(isn't this what all proud dachshund owners do?). He has obviously been well socialized as he loves meeting and greeting everyone who crosses our threshold.
Babette certainly maintains high breeding standards that produce these delightful puppies. She is very accomodating to the needs and wishes of her prospective families. We couldn't have found a puppy better suited to us or love little Murphy any more than we do. He's a wonderful dog, a true testament to an excellent breeder. In fact, we've already decided that when the time comes to add that third irresistible dachshund to our family, Babette will be the first one we call.
Thank you, Babette, for the warm bundle of joy!

Mason has been with for a week now and it seems as though he has always been here. He really was meant to be a part of our family. He has a great personality and he is full of energy! He adjusted quickly to his new home and bonded with everyone. Including the cat and 2 year old mini dachshund Mia. We chose Mason a month before he was ready to leave his mom and Babette was so helpful along the way. She answered all of my questions and kept the family updated on how he was doing. She sent pictures often which was nice for the kids. Her care and compassion is evident and she is a great ambassador for the breed.
Thank you so much for everything Babette!!!! Mason sends you big kisses!!!

Floyd and I have been dachshund lovers forever and after being dachshund-less for a few years we decided it was time to get another one. well, we couldn't just stop at one. we ended up with 3 (all about the same age and all from Babette). I can't begin to tell you how much fun they are and how well adjusted they are. it's obvious that they come from a loving and caring environment. We've been to Babette's several times to take the dogs back for a visit and to see her new additions. The boys get really excited when we get there - almost as if they know this was their first home. We're always impressed with her dogs and how well they relate to visitors. Her dogs are truly a part of her family - I don't know how she can bear to let any of them go. (this is also why i don't breed them). Judy & Floyd (Maine)

I cannot tell you how much I love my dear little girl Madeleine Babette.
People are constantly commenting on how gorgeous she is and how surprised
they are by her calm personality. She does have her wild side - which is
hilarious in that tiny little body. She is the queen of the entire
neighborhood.
Babette & the Ruffhaus Dachshund family are extraordinary. You can tell how
much they love and care about each and every puppy. If there was any way I
could handle a third dog - I'd have already gotten another puppy from
Babette. I don't know how we survived without our little Maddie girl. Kimberly (Maine)

Babette,
I just wanted to thank you for the latest addition to our family.. Ruby thinks that she is a big girl. She follows her big brother ,Cooper and her big sister ,Callie like she's their shadow. I've taken Ruby with me everywhere. She wins everyone over with that beautiful face and great personality. Ruby is very calm and is so very smart. She already knows the down, sit, come , potty and no commands and she's only 11 weeks old. Thank you again for allowing us to add this little bundle of joy to our family. We love her so much! Warning owning dachshunds may be addicting! No one can have just one!

Two Girls!
We are so thankful to have the sound of pitter-patter throughout our home again with the arrival of Lu and Emmy. When I saw Babette's website I just knew this was where we were going to find our bundles of joy. We are grateful that Babette and her loving family have given our puppies the best start they can possibly have. Her careful attention to selecting the best breeding mates has produced healthy, happy, well-mannered and well-tempered puppies no matter what litter you select from. We got Lu from a litter of just two little girls and the following week we went back for Emmy who came from a different litter--Lu and Emmy had been playmates from their early weeks of development, so right away they knew one another and have continued to be best friends.
I am so glad we have two girls! Lu is so affectionate and precious in her light red and white coat and Emmy is equally as loving and beautiful in her dark black and tan coat. Our veternarian remarked at how healthy and well cared for they have been at their 9 week old appointment. He was pleased to see the positive results that comes from thoughtful and careful breeding.
It is now our great priveledge to provide a happy and safe life for our two girls, Emmy and Lu! Thanks, Debra (Maine)

Dear Babette, How can I ever thank you for blessing us with such a wonderful doxie. Tripp is not only gorgeous on the outside, but he is gorgeous on the inside. A true life long companion! You can tell that you spend time with your pups and give them love and attention as you get them ready to go to their forever homes. He was such a love from the second we picked him up from the airport, he is now 9 mos old and we love him more every day! Thanks again and keep doing whatever you are doing! Katie (Georgia) |

"We purchased a beautiful puppy from you in December 2008, after being thoroughly impressed with the site, the answering of questions, the obvious care that had been given to the puppy and the great communication throughout the process. This addition to our family is one of the best of all time. Thank you, again, and we will stay in touch. Attorney Stan Hawthorne and Renee Hawthorne, Wakefield, NH"

Babette
Thank you for the 2 little guys ( Colonel Klink and Sergenant Schultz ). They are so lovable. After we got Colonel Klink in January 2008, we said that we needed to get him a playmate. We contacted you about getting him a playmate, and you gave us Sergenant Schultz in August 2008. They have brought so much enjoyment since we have had them. When we go for walks, everyone that we go by, the little guys get alot of attention and pats. They are so much fun. Thank you very much.

Hey there,
Sorry we haven't sent you an e-mail yet. We've been busy helping Ella settle in. She has been so fantastic. Ella is the perfect puppy for us. She goes on her peepad every single time, with the exception of the very first time because she didn't know where to go yet. She loves cuddling and sleeping with us, and we take her out to play in the park across the street. Thank you so much for raising such a wonderful puppy. We love her to pieces. She has become more attached to me than Miranda, and I was just wondering if that will always be the case or if it's just the puppy stage?
Ella sends her puppy kisses,
Andrew and Miranda (MA.)

We purchased a puppy from www.ruffhausdashunds.net. From Babette she has a great breed of Dachshunds, and is a very nice person to do business with
Li'l Gracie is a great puppy. Our puppy is very healthy and loveable and playful and is the joy of our life. We couldn't have asked for a better puppy.

Thank you Aunt Babette for the best souvenir I could have ever imagined from Maine. I love Tucker so much I could eat him with a spoon. He is so pretty and sweet and just our little cuddle bug. I love you big bunches, Mackenzie (Texas)
Greetings from NH
Thought I would let you know that I would catch you up on the heart that walks around outside my body also known as Mayako - what a truly sensationaly girl she is. She atracts a crowd wherever we go and is so very friendly to everyone who meets her. I had expected joy from owning a dog....but what I get from Maya is so much beyond my expectations that I am overwhelmed. We go to the park almost every day, and even when we don't, we get to play in the yard, and play we do. She is curious, rambunctious and full of P & V. I love it. She has brought such joy into my life and I again want to thank you for bringing us together. I do not have any pictures that I can hook to my computer yet, but that is in the works, and when I do, I will send some along. She grows more beautiful and friendly every day. I could have sold her several times over - but NO WAY. We belong together and she goes almost everywhere with me. And even sneaks into stores she might not normally supposed to be in....shame on me for that one! But we continue to have a great time together and again, thanks much. Tell her Mom and Dad she says hello and she misses them, but not enough to move home.......
Mickey & MayaHave a magical day! (New Hampshire)

My husband is Babette's brother and they are very close. We all are in fact and I wish they lived closer or vica versa. We visit the gang in Maine about every three years because of the expense of travel (and in between our having kids) but would see them more if we could. Our girls are 7 and 4 and we had not even considered getting a pet as we have two dogs and a cat that are all old as the hills and on borrowed time, that we thought we would wait to pass on to the next life before getting new pets. Okay that is easy to do from thousands of miles away but in true form, our "favorite Aunt Babette" managed to produce about a zillion beautiful puppies on que as if she just new exactly when we were going to show up. Now if you think one or two of these puppies are beautiful, imagine a gaggle of these geese all at once. And folks, these dogs are their pets. They aren't in the back forty in a kennel. They watch TV with them, sit under foot in the kitchen, play board games on the floor with the kids, etc. In a weeks time we got to know the pups really well and it was so much fun watching the kids play with them. Aunt Babette kept asking us if she could give the girls a puppy from her and we just couldn't say no. So like a true Griswald family vacation, we hauled two very small kids, a pile of luggage and one tiny but beautiful dachsund back from Maine on the airplane. I wish I could describe to you how sweet Tucker is. He is so great with the kids (Imagine a pup being dragged slowly out from under the Christmas tree by a three year old, by the tail, backwards and not so much as a yelp.) and they just love him. He is such a big part of our family and has been the perfect pet for all of us. There isn't one person that comes to our house that doesn't goes nuts over him, going on and on about how beautiful he is. That is the beauty of Babette's dogs; they are very versatile. Tucker could just as easily be a show dog as he is our family pet. We thank her all of the time for gifting the girls such a treasured gift that they will never forget. He is truly a part of our family and we can't imagine life without him.

Hi Babette, Happy New Year! Our guy was neutered on 12/27 and is doing just fine. Jack was home that week which made it easier to take care of the little bundle of energy. He's back on track except not taking those power walks for now. I know you're used to hearing this about your litters, but Cooper is our first Dachsy with such a wonderful temperment. Every person loves him. When he went in for his surgery that morning, the Vet Tech (who has loved him from his early puppy days) says she carried him around that morning. Just makes me smile. And he is great in his crate now. No more of those tantrums that you heard over the phone. He takes a power nap every morning after breakfast ... nice life. But ... our perfect little dog has now found his voice. Makes me laugh. We fell for this with our first puppy ... "Gee, he doesn't bark very much." Hah!! It's a new winter world for him, so we're dealing with the barking pretty well. Got advice from his trainer at the NHSPCA on how to handle it when (and if) it escalates. Thanks for the dog cartoons. Made me laugh ... I visit your website often to see what's new. I think of all the owners that will be starting their journeys with their little guys. What a trip it has been for us. Kisses to every single dachshund in your pack and tell Lexi her boy is doing fine ... he's living the life and I can't imagine our lives without him. How boring it was before he came! Grace (NH) P.S. He's not too spoiled. We shovel a poop area for him after every snow storm that we've had. And it's been a record year. The prince sits on the steps and watches. |
